Zheena - Greek Princess finally surfaced from the deep, dark, cold and clammy cellars beneath radio station 98.1 Eastern FM in December 2002.
Upon invitation from Ray Lawrence, Zheena was interviewed live-on-air and albeit shy and reserved, Zheena blossomed under Ray's guiding hand and began her on-air journey.
Some months later, the newly invented and robust Zheena recorded regular radio segments on breakfast and morning shows, much to the delight of her groupies and avid listeners, all of whom became very familiar with the trademark sign off ''Yassou for now''.
Zheena regularly visited the popular Wednesday Breakfast program with Peter O'Brien and Deanna Roberts for many years, bringing up the Lost 45 records from the cellar to play at 7.45 am. Although Zheena's dream love had always been Ray, Peter also had great appeal and Zheena, in her jealous state, shunned Deanna and ensured she was always alone in the studio with Peter until such time as she had finished her 3 mins of airtime and then allowed Deanna to return to the studio
.
When fire struck the radio station in 2003 Zheena donned her fireproof gown and moth-eaten cardigan to take to the stage with Ray in support of the fire recovery fund. A huge success was the result and Zheena shot to stardom.
Zheena regularly appeared for another 2 years before taking time out to visit her son, Stavros, the Chef, on the Gold Coast in Queensland. After an extended vacation, and somewhat defeated in her endeavours, Zheena decided to leave Stavros alone in his quest for the ideal partner and return to Melbourne.
