Too Busy to Boogie? (Issue 33) Feb/Mar 2010
You’ve heard it before. You’ve seen it in an email no doubt. “Dance like no one’s watching!”. Have you ever tried it? Really?
Just imagine you’re in a seminar room of 50 extremely positive, motivated and inspiring people. After a couple of weeks, you’re over the air-conditioning, the humidity outside and your brain is a little fried. It’s suggested, actually no, it’s recommended that you and your team put a show stopper production number together as a grand finale to challenge yourselves even further. To work! Choreography, costumes, lyrics, performances, stage lights, action!
You pull it off of course. You don’t want to let anyone down, least of all yourself. It’s a raging success, you’ve mastered the steps in your sleep, got the rhythm down and put on an unforgettable performance. The wigs look great, the corsets are tightened, music fills your soul and the team are all in time to the music. Hooray! It’s a hit! You even manage a somewhat coordinated curtain call and an encore!
Then, it’s all over. Back home to reality and business building again. Fun while it lasted. It occurs to you that it’s not all about business and hard work. It’s about play and dancing more often!
So............ Swing those hips in the supermarket, put a dint in the straight line for the bus and boogie, hip hop to the hardware store, glide to the kettle, cha cha to the mailbox, high-kick down the hallway and pirouette in the park. It’s not hard. Remind your body of how good it feels! You’re never too busy to boogie.
Go on, do it.... see what happens...
