Face to Face (Issue 31) Dec 2009
 So, you’re doing the coffee thing and before you know it you’re booked to attend a function the next day, despite the cost, location, soaring temperatures and having to get up early the next day.
It turns out to be a virtual social networking event, ie the likes of those faces you always see on your computer screen are actually real people getting together for the first time! Gasp! Shock! Yes, they speak, breathe and laugh, just like you. Amazing.
 It turns out to be a fantastic event, that doesn’t feel like a networking event at all. Sure, there’s the “...and what do you do?” question, that’s inevitable and to be expected, but what really makes it interesting is that the ambience ....not at fever pitch, nor are there any wallflowers leaning on the bar... it’s full of personalities that sound like they’ve known each other for years, camaraderie, laughs, potential joint ventures and even some moments where you go to pull out your hankie.. others where you wish your wallet was overflowing with funds to help out, and others where you wish they’d just shut up.
 Now this may not be your ideal Christmas function, but it does invoke good intentions. Yep, it’s the season to be whatever works for you, beat the shopping queues, send out masses of Christmas cards and decorate the tree. It’s also the perfect time to catch up with those you may not have seen for some time, or perhaps never met. Maybe it’s only ever been an online thing, where even a phone call doesn’t cut it. Sound familiar?
 So, just imagine meeting up with some special faces ... a real face to a real face occasion. It could be amazing. Go on.
